A small square of grey-blue brocade, scattered with golden-yellow blossoms — the kind of coaster that turns a coffee table into a still life.
A small square drink coaster woven from cotton-linen jacquard brocade, in a muted grey-blue ground patterned with golden-yellow blossoms and foliage. Reversible — the pattern is woven through, so the back side mirrors the front.
The story
The yellow-blossom-on-blue palette is borrowed from the everyday cloth of Yunnan's Miao villages, where gold and indigo dominate festival dress. We use it as a coaster because the yellow catches morning light well, and the grey-blue ground reads as a soft neutral that won't fight a printed tablecloth.
What makes it special
- 9.7 cm across — fits a standard mug or a small tea cup
- Cotton-linen jacquard — pattern is woven in, not printed
- Reversible — both sides mirror the same pattern
- Grey-blue ground with golden-yellow blossoms

How to use it
The catch-the-light coaster. Layer four on a dark or mid-tone wood for a blue-and-gold color story that photographs well in morning sun. Pairs with stoneware, brass, and dark walnut.
Care
Spot-clean with a damp cloth. Hand-wash cool if needed; do not bleach. Lay flat to dry — the woven pattern holds its shape, but a wrung-out coaster will curl.
