The story
The peony (牡丹) is the most embroidered flower in Chinese folk cloth — it's the symbol of wealth and good fortune, and it shows up on everything from wedding jackets to coin purses. We use it on a deep blue ground here because the blue reads as a soft neutral — a denim of the south Chinese wardrobe — and the peony is what catches the eye.

How to wear it
